So, this week I was able to reserve my times in the Temple to receive my Endowment and be Sealed (Nov 5 at 5 p,m for the Endowment, Nov 6 at 1:30 pm for the Sealing).
I am so excited to enter the temple and make covenants with my Heavenly Father that will bring me closer to him, and his son, Jesus Christ. There is so much about the temple that I don't know because it is so sacred. I can't wait to finally learn more about my purpose here. (I Love to See the Temple was just playing on Pandora! How perfect!)
I have been studying about the temple and marriage and right now I am even reading the lesson manual for Temple Prep! I think the class itself will be much more beneficial to me, though. Simply reading the manual is never the same as participating in an actual lesson. I can't wait to get started with the class! But unfortunately, I have to! There's only 3 weeks left in the term so my student ward doesn't have the time to organize a whole class! Another reason why I'm excited for Fall to start!
I love temples so much! I can't wait to go and share that sacred experience with my loving fiance, Myles. I can't wait till we get to start our own little family, just the two of us, loving and supporting each other at all times and in all things. What an honor it will be to help him run a household! I miss him and love him so much! I'm so grateful that through temples I have the blessing of being able to be sealed to him for eternity.
Reasons I'm Excited for Fall to Start:
1. Myles comes home!!!
2. Only 6 easy credit hours of school!
3. I start Temple Prep classes!
4. Colorful leaves!

The Proposal
Myles mandates this preface: Once when we were talking, I told Myles that "sometimes every girl wants to feel like a princess".
In Myles' ward in Texas he met Art Rascon and his wife, Patty. For those of you who don't recognize the name, Art Rascon is a famous ABC reporter who has won tons of awards and has an awesome house and basically he's super rich.
Myles had told me that on my first night in Texas they had invited him and all his work buddies over for a karaoke night because they have tons of awesome karaoke equipment. So we go to their house, and sure enough, they have a special room with a stage, mics, TONS of karaoke CDs, huge speakers, and every bit of sound equipment you could need! They were even recording all the songs. I met Patty Rascon, and she goes off about everything that Myles told her about me, and how I'm a Broadway star... (Rolls eyes)... Thanks for talking me up Myles. haha!
So the music starts, and I get up and sing a few songs, and so do some other people. After those first few songs Myles tells me that I HAVE to sing at least 4 or 5 songs, because everyone is here to hear me sing! --This is when I start getting a little suspicious.
So he asks me to sing a few songs from Enchanted. I agree and tell Patty the songs I'm singing for him. She says "Oh Melodie, you're going to think I'm so cheesy, but I have these princess costumes and I know that every girl loves to feel like a princess sometimes, so will you put one on for when you sing the song?" --Now I'm even more suspicious. I agree and she takes to the room right next to the karaoke room, where she has several gowns already laid out on the bed. --Now I REALLY know that something is going on! I choose this white gown with huge poofy sleeves and bows all over it. It looked like the gown she wears on enchanted! I HAD to choose it! It turned out that it was actually Patty's old wedding dress! Patty also put a tiara on me. But remember, everything was being video recorded.
I walk back into the karaoke room and Myles is dressed in a purple robe and a crown. I laugh, go onstage and start singing. Most of the time, Myles just stands next to me, looking handsome. Once I get halfway though 'True Love's Kiss', right at the part where Prince Edward comes in to sing "You're the fairest maid I've ever met..." I hand Myles the mic to sing. He is so nervous that he can't sing! So I start singing his part and he freaks out and grabs the mic from me.
Then, like a dream, he looks at me and says "Princess Melodie, I, Prince Myles, do invite you to take a walk with me through all eternity as my Queen". Then, perfectly timed with the music, he gets on one knee. his best friend Austin comes up and kneels also with a velvet pillow with the ring laying on top. Myles takes the ring, looks up at me, and says "Melodie, will you marry me?"
I of course said yes! I freaked out, the ring is gorgeous,
we hugged, and kissed, and it was PERFECT! He really did practice it so that he would pop the question right when the music was at it's peak! Myles says that when he was proposing, it was like he couldn't see or hear anything else. It was just me, and him, and he almost forgot that Austin had the ring! I felt the same way. I was so thrilled that I could only see and hear him.Last, at the end of the song, Myles looks into my eyes and says:

Summary of My Life Since My Last Post
It's been so long since I've written, it should be a sin! Especially with all that is happening to me! And still, I have no idea what I'm going to write.
Well, I went back to BYU full time winter semester, and lived in Wyview. I loved it! The apartments are so nice, and so inexpensive! it's a miracle! However, being in a freshman ward had it's ups and downs. Because I came in new in the Winter semester, and most members of the ward had been there since Fall, I was "the new girl". Being the new girl has it's benefits, but there are drawbacks as well. Benefits: Everyone else is pretty comfortable with themselves where they are so it's easier to get to know people; jump right into the parties! The guys in the ward love me, I'm a novelty, so I get a lot of attention. Drawbacks: BecauseI get the attention other girls used to get, the girls all hate me- and the fact that I am innately a shameless flirt doesn't help. GOSSIP! Yep, I'm everyone's favorite subject to gossip about.
So this is what it was like starting out in my freshmen ward.
In the midst of all of this drama, I met a Returned Missionary name Myles Porter. He was also new. I wasn't interested at first, but was soon struck by his charm. Suddenly, I realized why all the other girls loved to gossip about him as well!Well, after I developed my crush, I asked him on a date. Soon afterwards we started dating, and he fell in love with me. I actually decided today that I must have magical powers and am simply unable to harness them, because I have no idea how I got him to fall in love with me so quickly- especially considering that he was determined not to date me when he first entered the ward. I eventually fell in love with him as well, and we started discussing marriage. Now, we are getting married! But no ring yet, I will have to blog the proposal story later. :)
He is the best thing that has ever happened to me! He has taught me so much, and being with him has brought me closer to my heavenly father, and strengthened my testimony. I can't wait to be sealed to him for eternity!
Right now he is in Texas, doing summer sales. It's hard being away from him, but somehow we continue to love each other more and more every day.
I am now in my Spring term at BYU, on a scholarship. How I ended up with a scholarship at BYU, I have no idea! But I am truly blessed, and so grateful for this miracle! I'm serving as ward chorister, and still working at Franklin Covey. I nanny for my big sister on fridays, and get paid almost nothing for it! oh well, it's more a service to her, than a way to make money. And I am learning so much about what it's like to be a mother! it's great preparation for the far future when I will have children of my own! I love my life! But I can't wait to move forward, and begin my life with Myles! I couldn't imagine a better eternity. :)
I'll try to blog more! There are so many details I left out, but this is the summary! If you have any questions about how things are going with me, feel free to give me a call and ask!
